Q. If I registered online before the January 17th deadline, where can I pick up my T-shirt and bib?
A. If you registered online, your Race packet with T-shirt and bib will be mailed directly to you.
Q. If I mail in my Race entry form, how do I get my T-shirt and bib?
A. Participants who register by mail (must be postmarked by September
19th) will have their race packet mailed to them.
Q. If I register on Race Day at Walk-Up Registration, how do I pay?
A. At Walk-Up Registration, you can register with cash, check, or credit card.
Q. I want to register my whole family, is there a way to do that with one transaction?
A. Yes, you can register in one transaction. However, each participant must have their own e-mail, username, and password.
***Please note that multiple registration has to be done within the same payment session***
Q. My son/daughter does not have an email address, what do I do?
A. You can use your own email address to register them.
Q. Changing Participant Types - I want to change which event I registered for, how do I do that?
A. All untimed events are open to all participants. If you want to now participate in a competitive event, please bring and additional $5 to the Registration booth on the day of the Race to receive your chip.
Q. Do I need to get a new color bib?
A. No, only if you are a competitive runner do you need the correct color bib and you can receive that when you get your chip once you pay the additional $5.

Q. What day is the Race?
A. The race will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Q. Where is the Race located?
A. The Komen Houston Race for the Cure® route is located adjacent to the beautiful Buffalo Bayou on Allen Parkway. Pre and Post Race festivities are held at 1000 Bagby Street.
Please note – the start and finish lines are approximately a ½ mile from the pre- and post-race activities at 1000 Bagby.
Q. How long is each event?
A. Family Walk and Kids K - 1/2 mile, 5K Run (3.1 miles), 5K Walk (3.1
miles)

Q. Is there parking available?
A. Parking is available near the Race route, Downtown Sam Houston Park and in the surrounding area. Many of these parking garages and surface lots will require a fee ($5-$15) to park, so come prepared with cash.
Ride METRO buses and the light rail from outlying parking areas to avoid parking downtown.
Volunteer parking is available, information will be communicated directly with the volunteers.
*Please check our website throughout the race season for available parking garages on race morning.
Q. Do children have to pay to participate in the Race?
A. Yes, if the child wants to be recognized as a Race participant and receive a bib and youth-sized Race T-shirt. However, children under 3 are not required to pay, but they must have a signed waiver by the parent/guardian (parents must sign a registration form).
Q. Can I push a stroller during the Race?
A. Yes, strollers are encouraged to participate in the Kids K/Family Walk event only.
Q. Can I bring my dog to run with me?
A. No, for the safety of all participants, our insurance company requests that pets not be allowed on the course.
Q. Can I use in-line skates or skateboard?
A. No, in-line skates and skateboards are not permitted in this event.
Q. What portion of my ENTRY FEE is tax deductible?
A. None. The IRS does not allow deductions when you receive items of value for the entry fee. DONATIONS and PLEDGES are tax deductible.
Q. I am not from Houston. Are there hotels that offer discounted rates for Race participants?
A. The DoubleTree by Hilton Houston
Downtown is the host hotel of the Komen Houston Race for the Cure.
Q. Can I include a pledge with my registration money?
A. If you would like to register and make a pledge to a participant you
must specify the amount of the donation, and which event you’re registering
for. Pledge money must be kept separate from registration fees because it is
processed separately. Click here to download a Pledge Form to easily keep track of your pledges.
Q. Can I participate as a survivor in honor of my mother who passed away from breast cancer two years ago?
A. No, participants may only register as a survivor or a forever fighter if they themselves have been diagnosed with breast cancer and they wish to be recognized as a breast cancer survivor or forever figher.
If you would like to participate in celebration of a breast cancer survivor or in memory of someone who has lost the battle against breast cancer, please purchase a Survivor Salute Flag/Forever Fighter Flag or Memorial Bird. Both are available online or on the paper registration form.
This is a great way to honor a breast cancer survivor or forever fighter with a personal touch and remember our loved ones we have lost to the disease. The deadline to purchase a Survivor Salute Flag is tentatively January 5, 2018 and the deadline to purchase a Memorial Bird is September 19, 2018. These two purchases are tax deductible.
Q. I have battled ovarian cancer; can I register as a survivor?
A. Only breast cancer survivors and forever fighters should register as
survivors for the Komen Houston Race for the Cure®.
Q. What sizes do the T-shirts come in?
A. Race T-shirts are available in Youth sizes Small and Medium as well as Adult sizes Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XX-Large, and XXX-Large. T-shirts are first-come, first-serve. T-shirt sizes can not be guaranteed as Race Day approaches.
Q. I received my Race t-shirt and I want to switch sizes?
A. You can do this by visiting Walk-Up Registration at Academy Sports & Outdoors (Oct 4th, 5th, or 6th) or on race day (sizes limited and are not guaranteed).

Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
A. We encourage all participants to raise $150 – the cost of one mammogram.
Q. Does the money raised stay right here in our community?
A. Yes! Up to seventy-five percent of the net income from the Race stays
right here in our community to fund vital breast cancer health education and
breast cancer screening and treatment programs. The remaining twenty-five
percent supports Komen’s national research and training grants program

Q. How do I form a team?
A. To form a team, one person from your organization or group needs to set up the team here and register as the team captain.

Start Recruiting Team Members and Encouraging Fundraising
Let other team members know the name of the team. They can then register online by selecting “Join an Existing Team” button online. They will then be asked to search for and select a team name and will then follow the same registration process.
Q. How does my company/organization pay for all team members?
A. Some teams like to pay the fee for all team members. If you would like to do this, you may call the office and prepay with either a credit card or mailed check. Once we have your payment processed, we will create a code for you to distribute to team members. Q. Is there a place for my team to meet on Race Day?
A. There will be a Teams Meeting Area in the expo
area. Here you will have the opportunity to get your team picture taken! If you
choose another area, we suggest meeting 1 - 2 blocks away at a time that you
designate. Please communicate the time and place to all of your team members.
