Komen Houston Race for the Cure
Many of my friends are breast cancer survirors. Some friends are currently undergoing treatment. One was very recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, other friends have not survived.
My Mother died of complications from breast cancer on July 24,1997, a little over twenty years ago. She was only 68.
Komen has funded over $920 million to breast cancer research, second only to the US government. They have funded over $2.0 BILLION to medical care, community and provider education, and psychosocial support, serving millions in more than 60 countries worldwide. 81% of donations go to education, research, screenings and treatment. 19% goes to fundraising, like the Race for the Cure, and administrative expenses.
On January 27, 2018, I will be running in Houston's Komen Race for the Cure. Originally it was scheduled for October of 2017, but with Harvey's impact on the Houston area, it has been pushed back. I am asking for you to contribute to this cause.
At the top of this page you will see a participant's bib number. That was my mother's bib number from 1996, the last time she walked in the Pittsburgh Race for the Cure. To the right of it you will see a "Donate Now" button.
